Do you have a tree on the decline?
(Please read the following care instructions before making a claim.)
Tree Checklist:
- Scratch the tree bark. If you see green, it's still alive. And/or break open a leaf bud, green is a promising sign.
- After searching in a few areas, and still no green, try breaking a small branch. Healthy tree branches should bend and not immediately snap.
- Check the soil condition. Most trees are tolerant of soil condition, provided drainage is good. Excessively dry soil or too much water may harm the tree. Try inserting a wooden stick into the ground to examine the soil. Based on results, adjust watering procedures accordingly.
"Never Say Dead" - try these steps to save your tree.
(Most low vigor trees have much hope for improvement.)
- Trees are living things, just like humans. They need water and food. Monitor your watering and soil conditions. Try fertilizers or Miracle-Gro; leaves should look fuller and the general health should increase.
- Give it time. Some trees may be in shock, and need to adjust. Don't immediately give up on a tree.
- Trim the dead leaves/branches, healthy ones should take their place.
If your tree has shown no signs of improvement:
