Betula x 'Crimson Frost'

This hybrid River Birch is loved for its burgundy-red foliage, multi-stemmed habit and highly ornamental white peeling bark. Slightly smaller than the species, this tree will reach a maximum landscape height of about 25-30'. Looks great planted at the corner of a house or against a backdrop of Colorado Blue Spruce.

The River Birch is a very popular landscape tree, often used to soften the corner of a house or provide lacy, dappled shade. The bark is papery and highly ornamental. This tree is available in single or multi-stem forms. Because this tree prefers moist soils, it is the ideal choice for planting in a low spot or next to a body of water.

Betula x 'White Spire'

This variety of clump Birch tree is famous for its white chalk bark. The ornamental bark does not peel. The White Spire Birch is very tolerant of high temperatures. It is also used as an ornamental tree to brighten up a landscape.

Zelkova serrata 'Green Vase'
Type: Shade

The upright habit of the Green Vase Zelkova somewhat resembles the vase shape of the American Elm. It is a fast grower in youth, sometimes putting forth 3' of new growth in a growing season. This tree has excellent fall color, ranging from yellow to orange to bright red. It is wind and drought tolerant once established.

Gleditsia triacanthos var. inermis ‘Imperial’

The Imperial Honeylocust is a smaller variety of its kind. The Imperial Honeylocust is favored for the absence of thorns and its vase shaped canopy. Lawns grow fairly well beneath the tree and there is little to rake up in the fall since the tiny leaflets filter in between the blades of grass or are washed away in the rain. Honeylocust has a yellow or golden fall color in the northern part of its range. The tree has been successfully grown in urban areas where air pollution, poor drainage, compacted soil, and/or drought are common. Fast grower.

Gleditsia triacanthos v. inermis 'Shademaster'

This medium to fast growing tree is just right when scattered, not-too-dense shade is desired. The canopy is almost cloud-like at maturity, with airy branches and finely divided foliage. Unlike the species, the Shademaster variety of Honeylocust has very few seedpods.

Gleditsia triacanthos var. inermis ‘Skyline’

‘Skyline’ Honeylocust grows quickly to 45 feet with a rounded canopy. The Skyline is a thornless and mostly seedless cultivator. A very good street tree because of its tolerance to pollution. Also a very good lawn tree because of light shade and the ability for grass to grow beneath. Will turn a golden yellow in the fall. Fast grower.

Gleditsia triacanthos v. inermis 'Sunburst'

The Sunburst Honeylocust is similar to the Shademaster in growth rate and habit. The foliage on Sunburst emerges golden yellow, then changes to a bright green as the season progresses. This tree is beautiful as a highlight in the landscape, especially when used in combination with trees with red foliage or when set against a backdrop of evergreens.

Highly ornamental plant with weeping, shrub-like form. Mature plants are characterized by sculptural, cascading branches. New leaves emerge bright crimson and deepen to burgundy with age. Fall color is scarlet. Considered the ultimate garden specimen, this plant is often seen in Japanese gardens.'Ever-Red' is a 7-lobed form of dissectum atropurpureum, not to be confused with other specimens often sold under the name 'Ever Red'. 'Ever Red' has been known to grow to a height of 15 feet. Excellent effect when used by water or dry creek bed.

Acer palm, Tamukeyama

Broad-rounded habit. Branches often layered or sweeping toward the ground in weeping cultivars. Narrowly lobed leaves are often dissected creating a lacy appearance. New growth and fall color is crimson red. Handsome cascading branches.

Tilia cordata ‘Glenleven’

The ‘Glenleven’ linden is also known as the Littleleaf Linden. This tree has a faster growth rate than other littleleaf Lindens with a more open, canopy forming a moderately dense pyramidal to oval crown which casts moderate shade. The tree grows in sun or partial shade, will tolerate alkaline soil if it is moist, and it transplants well. Littleleaf Linden is a prolific bloomer, the small fragrant flowers appearing in late June and into July

Tilia americana 'Greenspire'

The linden has a medium growth rate, growing 10-15' over a 10 year period into a densely-branched pear shaped tree. It needs very little pruning to maintain its neat shape and does well under difficult environmental conditions, so it has gained popularity as a street tree or low-maintenance shade tree. The leaves are dark glossy green, turning to yellow in the autumn. Insignificant flowers are highly fragrant in summer.

Tilia tomentosa 'Sterling'

The Sterling Silver Linden is similar to the Greenspire Linden in growth rate, shape and flower. The undersides of the leaves are covered in fine silvery hairs that give the tree a shimmery appearance in the landscape. It will be a slightly smaller tree at maturity.

Acer x freemanii 'Autumn Blaze'

The Autumn Blaze Maple is a very fast-growing maple, sometimes growing up to 3' or more per year once established. This tree is slightly more drought tolerant once established than true red maple cultivars. The autumn color is brilliant red to orange, depending on environmental conditions, and the color has been known to persist longer into the season. We recommend planting alongside another tree with yellow fall color to heighten the effect.

Acer rubrum 'Autumn Flame'

The Autumn Flame Maple is slower growing than the hybrid maples like Autumn Blaze, but will eventually reach a similar size in the landscape. It will develop a rounded crown at maturity. The autumn color is excellent, coloring early to a bright red or orange, depending on environmental conditions. This maple will tolerate moist conditions, and while it prefers full sun it will perform in part shade as well.

Acer platanoides 'Emerald Queen'

Emerald Queen is a faster growing cultivar of the Norway Maple, but still not as fast as the rubrums and their cultivars, reaching only about 25' tall and 20' wide after 20 years. This tree transplants well, is tolerant of poor soils and adapts well to drought conditions after establishment. The brilliant yellow fall color makes it an excellent companion tree to the bright red foliage of Autumn Flame, Autumn Blaze or Red Sunset.

The Hedge Maple is the ideal maple for smaller yards due to its slow growth rate and small stature at maturity. It tolerates heat, drought and poor soils. Acer platanoides

The Norway Maple has a medium growth rate, reaching up to 30' in 20 years. The foliage canopy is round and dense, with dark green leaves changing to yellow in late October or November. Small yellow or green flowers appear in spring before the leaves emerge. This tree transplants well and is tolerant of drought and poor soils once established.

Acer rubrum 'October Glory'

This red maple holds is glossy green foliage late into the season, making it an excellent companion for trees with red and yellow autumn color. It will eventually turn a brilliant orange to red and hold this color into mid-November. Average growth is about 2' per year on an oval to round crown.

Acer rubrum 'Franksred'

The Red Sunset is one of our more popular maples when fast growth is desired. It will develop a dense pyramid to rounded crown with dark green foliage, turning red to orange in autumn. This tree is tolerant of poor soils and moist conditions and transplants well.

Acer miyabei 'Morton'

The State Street Maple is not commonly found in cultivation but makes a fine tree for a small lot due to its smaller stature. In this respect it's similar to the Hedge Maple, but the State Street Maple develops a habit that is more upright oval and the bark is heavily ridged. It is heat, drought and pollution resistant. The foliage is glossy dark green, turning to yellow late in the autumn.

Acer saccharum

The Sugar Maple is an excellent choice for the lawn and landscape where a larger tree with a slow to medium growth rate is desired. Under the right conditions, it often reaches 75-85' in height, but will stay smaller where light, soil or other environmental conditions are not optimal. This maple has excellent fall color and can perform well in full sun or part shade.

Quercus robur

The English Oak is a beautiful choice when a large tree with slower growth is desired. The canopy is pyramidal at youth, maturing to a broadly rounded form. The dark green foliage persists until the leaves fall in autumn, making the English Oak an excellent companion to trees with red or yellow fall foliage.

Quercus palustris

The Pin Oak has a strong upright pyramidal shape with a straight central leader and finely divided leaves. It is one of the more popular oaks due to its faster rate of growth and upright habit. This oak transplants easily and is tolerant of wet soils.

Quercus rubra

This is one of the faster growing oaks, averaging 1-2' of growth per year. It develops a rounded canopy and at maturity is very symmetrical. Foliage is dark glossy green with a russet red fall color. This tree transplants well and is virtually pest and disease free.

Quercus bicolor
Type: Shade

Swamp White Oaks are characterized by flaky, peeling grayish-white bark that is highly ridged. It reaches a smaller size at maturity than its close relative the White Oak, becoming 50-60' high and wide at maturity. It is found in the wild in low-lying and swampy areas, so is able to tolerate short periods of sitting water.

Quercus alba

The White Oak has a pyramidal shape when young, maturing to an upright-rounded form with broadly spreading branches. This is one of the most stately oaks in the landscape, reaching up to 80' tall and wide. Growth rate is slow to medium during the first 10-12 years, gradually maturing to a very slow rate of growth after 20-30 years. Fall color ranges from brown to a rich wine red.

Salix alba 'Tristis'

This is one of the hardiest and beautiful of the weeping-type willows. Main branches are strongly upright and secondary branches are pendulous with a golden yellow color. It's fast growth rate and tolerance of moist soils makes it a perfect tree to place next to a body of water.
